Hello Readers

As continuing on Part 3, we are now going to look at Installing KEMP VLM for Reserve Proxy before than moving on to Part 5 – Install System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2. As always there are a couple of pre-requisites we need to complete.

KEMP offer a free trial of Virtual LoadMaster for VMWare and HyperV. You will need to download a copy for your lab environment

http://kemptechnologies.com/uk/server-load-balancing-appliances/virtual-loadbalancer/vlm-download

You will need to create KEMP ID as your trial licence key is activated against your KEMP ID.

As there good documentation from KEMP regarding activating a try licence I wont go into how its done in this blog post and move onto the appliance itself to configuring as Reserve Proxy.

Once you have download your appliance, give it an IP Address via Command Line, logged in via GUI and activated your trial licence.

You should see the below

So as you can see the IP Address of my LoadMaster is 10.10.10.60 Internally and is 172.16.1.60 on the DMZ. When configuring the networking we need to ensure its configured correctly.

By default Interface 0 will have a network route for that subnet, you need to add a route for Interface 1

Navigate to –> System Configuration –> Route Management –> Additional Routes –> Enter Network Route for DMZ Network

image

Now we have configured the networking for the KEMP Device we need to download the KEMP Templates for Lync. This can be obtained from http://kemptechnologies.com/uk/loadmaster-documentation#c7842

Once you have downloaded the file you need to import them into the KEMP Appliance.

Navigate to –> Virtual Services –> Manage Templates –> Press Browse –> Select your Template –> Press Add New Template

image

11 New Templates will be installed for Lync

image

Now navigate to Certificates –> SSL Certificate –> Press Import Certificate

image

You will need to export your Edge Cert from the Edge Server in .pfx format with the private key. Browse to the exported Cert, Enter Password for the Cert, Enter Certificate Identifier –> Press Save

image

Press OK –> Press Add Intermediate

image

If you remember me saying in Part 3 we need to ensure the format of the certificate is correct here is why. If the Certificate is not in the correct .cer format the KEMP will not accept the certificate, as the cert we saved earlier is in the correct format we will Browse –> Select the Certificate –> Enter Desired file name –> Press Certificate

image

Now we have imported the required certificates into the KEMP Appliance we can start making the Virtual Services for Lync RP. Navigate to Virtual Services –> Add New

Enter Virtual Address (I have used .16 as its an unused IP in my lab) –> Use Template –> Select Lync Reserve Proxy 2013 –> Press Add this Virtual Service

image

Under SSL Properties –> Select your Certificate –> Press Set Certificates

image

Under Real Server –> Press Add New…

image

Enter IP Address of the Edge Server –> Specify Port as 4443 –> Press Add this Real Server

image

Press OK –> Navigate to Virtual Services –> View/Modify Services

image

As you can see the HTTPS Service is up and running, Press Modify for Lync Reserve Proxy HTTP

Under Real Server –> Press Add New…

image

Enter IP Address of the Edge Server –> Specify Port as 4443 –> Press Add this Real Server

image

Press OK –> Navigate to Virtual Services –> View/Modify Services

image

You now have a working Reserve Proxy for Lync

This concludes this post

Regards

Andrew Price
