I like to keep track of the Microsoft earnings, and any Lync/Skype related news.
Microsoft Corp. announced revenue of $23.38 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2014. Gross margin, operating income, and diluted earnings per share (“EPS”) for the quarter were $15.79 billion, $6.48 billion, and $0.55 per share, respectively.
There was not loads of specific Skype/Lync news.
Office 365 Consumer continues to grow at a rapid pace, over a million additional users in the last quarter, all with bundled Skype minutes.
Commercial Cloud covers Office 365 and Azure, and continues to see large growth. Office 365 was not broken out as a sales figure.
In the earnings call Satya Nadella, affirmed the commitment to work and personal “productivity” across all popular platforms
“Now OneDrive and OneDrive for business are one team. Outlook and Exchange are one team. Skype and Lync are one team all focused on these dual-user scenarios.
We are clear that our experiences are going to be available on all devices. We have a specific goal for multiple Microsoft applications to be available on every home screen. This is why we brought Office to the iPad and now there are more than 35 million downloads of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. “
