Not a must but certainly recommended as a design best practice is to match the (Lync) SIP address to that of the primary SMTP (email) address. A properly Lync enabled user via Lync Server Control Panel or Management Shell will have the msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress AD attribute automatically populated.
